About When We Collide

After a few years of admiring the work of the great fanartists such as Jenni Lou and Nikki, I thought I would see if I had any talent in the area, so I downloaded a trial of Adobe Photoshop 8. When this trial ran out, I decided to buy a copy of Photoshop CS. Shortly after this time, my first fanart site, Just Breathe was born.

In the early months of 2005 I decided to fork out some money and move from a free but ad-ridden host to a lovely ad-free webhost. On April 8 2005 Opportune Moments was brought to life. Late 2006 I decided I wanted to provide screencaps and other such items on my site and for that I would need a webhost that provided greater storage for a cheap price. This move resulted in When We Collide being created (although not used for much of 2007). When We Collide is now my main website and the OM domain expired in early April 2008 and as I have decided that I no longer require two sites, I have now integrated everything into one large site.

The domain name When We Collide was chosen as it is a lyric from one of my favourite songs: 'Collide' by Dishwalla. My old domain name for Opportune Moments was chosen as it was part of a quote from one of my favourite movies at the time, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

My Style:
I'm definately more of a 'blender' than a 'collager'. I find good collages really difficult to make as I'm not really that good with using brushes which are a major component of this type of piece. I am a huge fan of using textures to bring my artwork to life. Textwise, I generally use quotes from the movie or tv show but I do use the occasional song lyric if appropriate or if no quote is available.
